THE TEACHER.

"Education in music is most sovereign because more than anything else, rhythm and harmony find their way to the innermost soul and take strongest hold upon it." - Plato

Teachers are so important aren't they? They can destroy a child's interest in a subject, or they can ignite a passion for learning, and a hunger for discovery.

Callum owes his love of music to his early teachers, and has ever since wanted to impart the love of music he gained from his teachers on to future generations.

No one knows the importance of teachers more so than Callum himself. Having had teachers that crippled him emotionally, and destroyed his confidence; to having teachers that nurtured him, and raised and supported his self-belief so that he could rise to the challenges of the music industry.

Callum's mantra is honesty with a smile. Living by this, he has found students become more self aware as they perform, and have an increased ability to practice in an intelligent and focussed manner; improving confidence and self esteem when they perform.

Having taught in the UK, Denmark, and Norway, Callum has developed an understanding of individual needs, and learnt strategies to help students achieve their goals. His lessons can be described as an "adventure of discovery", implementing different approaches to playing to identify what not only makes the student sound best, but which approach works best for their physiology.

With a specialism in low brass instruments, Callum also gives lessons in all other brass instruments; conducting, aural and theory, and gives more general musicianship lessons to other instrumentalists.
